Duffy takes North America this fall

Welsh singer/songwriter Duffy [ ] will return to North America this fall to accompaniment her debut album, "Rockferry."

She'll start with a Sept. 5 performance at New York City's star-studded "Fashion Rocks" event before kick off a coast-to-coast US jaunt Oct. 9 in San Diego, and is scheduled to play more than a dozen shows, including several opening sets for Coldplay. Dates include a two-night stand with Coldplay in East Rutherford, NJ, and a stoppage in Vancouver. Details are listed below.

When her North American sashay wraps Nov. 1 in Philadelphia, Duffy will forefront back abroad for a month-long tour of the UK. Information about those shows can be ground at her website.

"Rockferry" surfaced last spring and climbed to No. 4 on The Billboard 200 with help from the leash single, "Mercy." The album remains in the chart's Top 20 after 14 weeks.

Duffy's followup single, "Warwick Avenue," is currently tearing up the European charts and the companion picture has been nominated for Best UK Video at the 2008 MTV Video Music Awards.

The videos for all of Duffy's singles, including her latest, "Stepping Stone," are streaming at the singer's MySpace page.

Already a genius in the UK, Duffy has been leaving her retro-soul home run on American audiences this summer with club/theater gigs and performances at major festivals, including Chicago's Lollapalooza.

Infinity acquires library of Rona Barrett

Journalist interviewed John Wayne, Robin Williams




Infinity Entertainment Group has acquired exclusive DVD distribution rights to the library of celebrity broadcaster and journalist Rona Barrett.

In a career that spans more than than 30 years, Barrett has interviewed such high profile stars as John Wayne, Cher, Carol Burnett and Robin Williams.

The initial release, "Rona Barrett's Hollywood: Nothing But the Truth," will be released Oct. 28. One dollar from each DVD sold will be donated to the Rona Barrett Foundation for the Elderly Poor, which helps seniors unable to afford or obtain assisted-living care.

Swedish jazz pianist Esbjorn Svensson dies



Swedish jazz pianist Esbjorn Svensson has died in a diving accident outside
Sweden's capital. He was 44.







His manager Burkhard Hopper says Svensson died on Saturday, but further
details of the accident were not immediately available.



Svensson and his band, the Esbjorn Svensson Trio, became world renowned with
their 2002 album "Strange Place for Snow." It won a string of jazz awards,
including the Guinness Jazz in Europe Award and best international act in
the BBC Jazz Awards.



In 2005, it became the first European jazz band to be featured on the cover of
Downbeat jazz magazine in the US.
